Abstract submission - Applied Synthetic Biology in Europe Conference

We invite submissions of abstracts for oral or poster presentations.
Authors are encouraged to submit original work related to the conference themes.

Deadline: 19 July 2026

Presentation types

  • Oral presentation: selected contributions will be allocated a time slot within the scientific program, including time for discussion and questions.
  • Poster presentation: posters will be displayed throughout the conference, with dedicated poster sessions for interaction and exchange.

Topics of interest
Abstracts are welcome on (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • Factory – clean growth, bio-based chemical/materials production, alternative feedstocks C1, plastics, biogenic
  • Pharma – cellular therapeutics, siagnostics, gene/base editing, biobased production of pharmaceuticals
  • Farm and field – improve crops, soil augmentation, waste treatment, bioremediation, biocontainment
  • Computational design technologies – proteins, circuits, systems, networks, communities and processes

Submission guidelines

  • The abstract title should be less than 160 characters and must not be written in all capital letters.
  • Non-standard abbreviations should be avoided in the title, but may be used in the text if defined at first usage.
  • The abstract must include the name of the presenting author, all co-authors, and their affiliations.
  • The body of the abstract should not exceed 1,600 characters, including footnotes.
  • Standard abbreviations and SI units must be used. Abstracts must not include tables, charts, or figures.

The Scientific Committee will determine the type of contribution (short oral presentation or poster) based on the abstract review. Authors will be notified of abstract acceptance by 30 September 2026.

How is the abstract submission process?
During the registration process, you will have the option to submit an abstract for either an oral or a poster presentation.
Can I submit more than one abstract?
No, each participant may submit only one abstract, either for an oral or a poster presentation.
Can I submit an abstract by email?
No, abstracts can be submitted only via the online submission services. Any abstract sent by email will not be accepted and automatically returned to the sender.
I have submitted my abstract, but I need to make a correction. What can I do?
If your abstract is saved as a draft, you can modify it before the submission deadline. Once submitted, no changes are allowed unless you withdraw and resubmit before the deadline. After the deadline, contact events@efbiotechnology.org.
How many presenting authors can one abstract have?
Each abstract must have one presenting author and may include up to 20 authors in total.
What are the poster specifications?
  • Maximum poster board dimensions: 48 x 36 in (121.9 x 91.4 cm).
  • Push-pins will be provided.
  • Include abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions, references.
  • Use short bullet points instead of long text.
  • Figures, diagrams, and graphs are preferred.
  • Minimum font size: 14 pt.
  • Use standard fonts (Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman).
  • High-quality printing required.
What are the oral presentation guidelines?
Oral presentations are 15 minutes total (12 minutes talk + 3 minutes questions). Speakers must respect timing strictly.
