Submit your work for an oral or poster presentation at ASBE8

We invite submissions of abstracts for oral or poster presentations. Authors are encouraged to submit original work related to the conference themes.

Abstract submission deadline: 16 August 2026

Extended deadline for poster presentations: 31 August 2026

🎤 Presentation Types

Oral Presentation

Selected contributions will be allocated a time slot within the scientific programme, including time for discussion and questions.

Poster Presentation

Posters will be displayed throughout the conference, with dedicated poster sessions providing opportunities for interaction and exchange.

🧬 Topics of Interest

Abstracts are welcome on, but are not limited to, the following topics:

Factory – clean growth, bio-based chemical and materials production, alternative C1 feedstocks, plastics and biogenic production.
Pharma – cellular therapeutics, diagnostics, gene and base editing, and bio-based production of pharmaceuticals.
Farm and Field – crop improvement, soil augmentation, waste treatment, bioremediation and biocontainment.
Computational Design Technologies – proteins, circuits, systems, networks, communities and processes.

📋 Submission Guidelines

Please ensure that your abstract meets the following requirements:

The abstract title must be fewer than 160 characters and must not be written in all capital letters.
Avoid non-standard abbreviations in the title. Abbreviations may be used in the abstract text provided that they are defined at first use.
The abstract must include the presenting author's name, all co-authors, and their affiliations.
The abstract body must not exceed 1,600 characters, including footnotes.
Use standard abbreviations and SI units. Abstracts must not include tables, charts or figures.
The Scientific Committee will determine the type of contribution (short oral presentation or poster) based on the abstract review. Authors will be notified of abstract acceptance by 30 September 2026.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How is the abstract submission process?

During the registration process, you will have the option to submit an abstract for either an oral or a poster presentation.

Can I submit more than one abstract?

No, each participant may submit only one abstract, either for an oral or a poster presentation.

Can I submit an abstract by email?

No, abstracts can be submitted only via the online submission services. Any abstract sent by email will not be accepted and automatically returned to the sender.

I have submitted my abstract, but I need to make a correction. What can I do?

If your abstract is saved as a draft, you can modify it before the submission deadline. Once submitted, no changes are allowed unless you withdraw and resubmit before the deadline. After the deadline, contact events@efbiotechnology.org.

How many presenting authors can one abstract have?

Each abstract must have one presenting author and may include up to 20 authors in total.

What are the poster specifications?

Maximum poster board dimensions: 48 × 36 in (121.9 × 91.4 cm), corresponding to 48 in (121.9 cm) in height × 36 in (91.4 cm) in width.
Push-pins will be provided.
Include abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions, references.
Use short bullet points instead of long text.
Figures, diagrams, and graphs are preferred.
Minimum font size: 14 pt.
Use standard fonts (Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman).
High-quality printing required.

What are the oral presentation guidelines?

Oral presentations are 15 minutes total (12 minutes talk + 3 minutes questions). Speakers must respect timing strictly.

When will I receive my participation certificate?

Certificates are issued on a nominal basis, with one certificate per participant. If an abstract has multiple authors, the certificate will be issued only to the person who actually presented the abstract at the conference (oral or poster presentation). Other authors or co-authors will not be included on the presenting author’s certificate. Certificates will be sent by email a few days after the conference.
